UNUSED is a marketplace for exactly that: a place to list the thing you already own, set a price and a radius, and let it earn its keep between the days you actually need it.

Renting between people still runs on WhatsApp groups, Marketplace threads and asking around. There is no price, no calendar, no cover, no proof anything was returned.

The friction isn't the renting. It's everything around it: agreeing a price, handing it over, and knowing where you stand when something breaks.

The Netherlands is dense, well-connected and full of semi-professional gear, which is exactly the shape of market a rental network needs to start in.

Start narrow, in categories where the items are expensive and idle most of the year, then let the same infrastructure carry the boring categories once the behaviour exists.
